This is 31 st slam final of Federer

I stand by my opinion that the 5th set tiebreak robbed Federer of this match. Federer did better in literally every single category except unforced errors in this match.
    More aces
    Less double faults
    Higher first serve %
Higher win rate on first serve
Higher win rate on second serve
    More net points won
    Higher net %
    More break points converted
    More receiving points won
Almost twice the amount of winners
    More points won
    More games won
A Grand Slam final should not have a 5th set tiebreak. Djokovic was less likely to break between the two the entire match and I watched this whole thing multiple times and still think Federer was the better player. I don't like tiebreaks to begin with because they can go either way, but I understand them in the earlier sets to a degree, but a 5th set tiebreak in a Grand Slam Final? I always thought it was bogus that the US Open had one but the fact that Wimbledon followed in their footsteps is ridiculous.

Well it might seems to be like an upset for Federer fans but *the hard truth is Djokovic dominated the Wimbledon final 2019 in all the crucial moments.* 🤷‍♂️ We will never know what would have happened if this or other scenario played out. But *Djokovic held very well and was better when he needed it.* The only important statistic where Federer really outplayed Novak was serve (and return) here. In first 3,5 sets Federer was almost untouchable on serve, lots of easy put away winners etc... And total points won statistic is mostly skewed by that 2nd set that Novak pretty blatantly tanked after getting broken ( *Federer won 14 more points in that one* 😆). If Novak lost 1st set there is just no way he would have given second the way he did and whole flow of the match would be different. I dont think Djokovics level was bad of the ground at all, not amazing, but not bad either. If Federer was not getting 2+ service winners pretty much every game its Novak who could have potentially won this in straights. I think many people forgot how this match up looks when Federer is having good serving day and is overall in great form.

Kinda had to go that way, that Isner Mahut final set of 70-68, whilst entertaining was also ridiculous, Isner of course lost his next match being exhausted, which was the very next day. I guess part of that problem is scheduling and keeping to television schedules. It's also perfectly possible to have a final to go on so long that it gets stopped and has to continue the next day, where it could possibly be over in like 10 minutes, that would be very anti-climatic.

Roger might not be as consistent as Novak for a while... but why will not the entire stadium be ur fans when u can play beautiful and breathtaking shots like these!!!... Public are individual human beings... they decide whom they like... and they decide for a reason... even if Roger fails to win tournaments, once u decide u love someone, it is not easy to release the hold... especially when Roger comes up with mesmerising shots like these. And, the entire match was laced with too many such awe inspiring shots. Agree?

tennis is a sport where the situation is unpredictable to the end. But also a sport where Novak always wins in the end. It becomes monotonous

Commentators have repeated multiple times that Roger wasn't broken (not until final set). I don't understand this. A minimum of 4 points (15 30 40 game) at a difference of 2 are required to win a normal game whereas TB needs a min of 7 points at 2 diff. So TB is bigger than a game break. So Nole broke Roger 3 times in the 3 TBs (+ once in set5)

Psychologically seeing... when entire crowd is supporting the opponent... u r the only one in such a huge crowd... u stand alone... automatically u will become mentally strong even without having to put effort... u will get canon like focus... coz wherever u see r roger's supporters only... so, logically it seems correct that novak played against the crowd... but psychologically, the crowd helped him by all of them rooting for roger. It's a blessing in disguise, IMO. What do u say?

@amkherenow That's the case with Novak to be honest. Most of the players in that environment would eventually cave in to this crowd & lose their focus. Sure, I've seen Medvedev in US Open 2019 feeding off of the crowd cheering against him, but he doesn't have to deal with that everywhere. Novak on the other hand has gotten used to it over the years.

This Wimbledon was Federer's masterpiece, he defeated Nadal in the semifinal and dominated the final, all at the old age of 38....just couldn't put the final touch...he gifted this one to Novak....

Definitely Novak won the match with his mental strength. 0 UFEs in set5 TB is superhuman performance.
But the point is... this is a marvellous match. Similarly Rafa v Nole 2018 Wim SF is another gem.
Roger competed with Nole for 6.5 sets -- 12-12 in set5 is like 2 sets, right! -- and we can say another 0.5 set with the 2 TBs combined.
Matching Nole, who is world#1, and defending champ, and 6 years younger... for more than 5 hours and for 6.5 sets is an extreme feat. And 99% of the match is of exceptional quality.
Many folks are making fun of Roger for losing. May be they could for some other match, but not for this!

After being dragged till 12-12 games in set5, 7 point TB suddenly feels like a lottery.... feels so short suddenly... and so quick. Comparatively, AOs strategy of 10 point TB at 6-6 games in set5 feels more meaningful. Either Wim should do this or let them fight forever (like before)

U need set5 TB in other matches, coz winning player should be capable of competing in the next match. What's the point in having set5 TB in finals. Doesn't make sense to me.
